I've had both tires and the Goodyears were grippier (esp in snow) but considerably more noisy. We got 22k miles in mixed city/highway miles... we'll see what the Pirellis do, I'm sure it will be less, Pirellis are not known for longevity.

HOWEVER, I've had these tires on two different model years, so some of that might be different between the 2008 and the 2011 but probably not the grip.

I can 2nd the noise on the Goodyear LS2's. The first thing I noticed when I got my Q7 was how loud they were. I will not be buying those again. Was looking at getting the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's for my next set. They're cheap and rate as high as the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's on TireRack. I also had them on a Toyota Celica and loved them, but I wonder how it would feel on the Q7 since there is a 3000 lb difference between the two cars. I only have 2300 miles on the current set so it will be quite awhile before then.

Just mounted a set of F1s from TireRack, pretty good price with the closout deal and $80 rebate.

didn't spend much time with the tires. wife driving them. Replaced LS2s that were worn after 23k miles.

Back in the mid 80's when I was selling MB, Porsche, Audi & Jag the U.S. government (in it's infinate wisdom) mandated that all auto manufacturers buy from each tire company to equip new cars.

We would always switch tires and wheels on cars that we were selling to our best customers to assure they had Michelins on their new car. At that time, the Mich's were the best handeling/quietest tire.
