Default Car Thieves "eyeing up my Q7 already"

I cannot believe that my Q7 is not even 1 week old and I have recieved a tip off from a police officer neighbour that a couple of "Known" delinquents were eyeing up my new Q7 parked on the driveway yesterday morning.

The Police officer said that the known thugs were hardcore who dealt in armed robbery, house burglary and car crime. He also said that when he was back on duty he would be logging an incident report.

This of course has not gone down too well with my wife who is now petrified that the thieves will try and break into our new house and take the keys. She is also very concerned for the welfare of our 2 young girls as well and now regrets buying the Q7.

What is it with this day and age where you have to live in fear of not only the streets but even in your own home.

Do you live in London perhaps? If so, then welcome to the jungle! It is a doggy-dog world. I moved out of London some years ago...to the countryside.

When I bought a Boxster back in 1997/8, I was warned by many people including the local Police Force that I was a target as the car was one of a few in the UK at the time.

I was never attacked however I took the advise of many and moved out of London. It was the best move I ever made!

Default Great tips inside!!!

Get a Cat 5 tracker or a sticker for one.
Park your other car to block it so its not easily accessed. Point a PIR at it linked to a shop alarm like a dingdong every time it is tripped. You can also link a camera flash to a PIR so it flashes like they just had their picture taken.
Stick up CCTV cameras or dummies also available from Alarm centres.
Just dont make anything easy for them and they will go for a softer target.
Invite the police neighbour round for drinks.
Put up electric gates.
Move to Australia.
I hate those crims and know exactly how you feel.
get even meaner crims to visit them.
Pay lots of insurance and leave the keys handy for them if they do break in.
Talk to the cops a lot.
Have tons of outside lights.
Buy a bigger dog and leave him out front.
Leave the wrong key in the car. (friend of mine used to do that...it was too confusing for them)
Move to the country.
Sell the car.
Employ a private security Company for it.
Put up a security hut in your front garden.
Take a wheel off it every night.
Get drunk every night.
Park your Q7 outside the cops house.
Drive into a garage so they dont know when its there.
Forget about it, its only a car!
Paint a white X on the roof.
Put sign writing on it.
This is fun but really I am sitting there hating them for you.

I would think it would be very hard to steal, w/o keys. Even if they did, what's insurance for...?

Default take a few more precautions, like some that jusforfun mentions. there was a member here early on

who had his q7 stolen. i don't remember hearing if he ever recovered it.

i'd vote to install some motion detector lights, as well as security cameras.

Default Re: Great tips inside!!!...a few to add

1) remove the drivers seat each time you leave the car.

2) remove all 4 wheels each time you leave the car.

3) move to Manaco.

4) Move to Dubai.

5) Move to the moon - hmmm, perhaps not for now!

6) Buy a 2nd Q7 just in case the current one gets stolen.

7) Buy one of the following number plates for the Q7; 'N1K ME' or 'N1C ME' or 'DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT !T!' or 'GO ON PUNK, MAKE MY DAY!'.

8) Get bullet proof protection for the car.

9) Move to a wealthy area.

10) Steal the car yourself before anyone else does!

Just my 2 cents worth...feel free to do all or whichever best suits.

Default Re: I would not hesitate using one!

I would have no hesitation in using any means to protect my family or my hard earned belongings, but having a gun in the UK would not go down to well with the law.

Mickeyyeety-; The insurance is OK as long as you do not have the car returned if it is stolen. I would not want a stolen repaired Q7 at any cost.
