Default Diesel Price update

With everything going on, gas prices are skyrocketing, as everyone knows. Normally, diesel prices here in Chicagoland average about 5 cents higher than premium. Filled up yesterday at my usual station and diesel is now 12 cents CHEAPER than premium and below mid grade. Not sure how it will sort out, but good news so far. I'm good for another 600+ miles until my next fillup.

You're regularly getting 600+ miles per tank?! I live in LA and have been averaging only about 475ish, and that's with a light foot (but 90% stop and go city traffic).

Yep. Mostly highway driving. I get around 26 mpg (as high as 28 or 29 when keeping it under 65). Average around 22 in the city. With a little reserve still in the tank (26 gallons) I get around 600 miles. One note about speed....the mileage drops off significantly above 75 mph or so.

Wow. Big difference in CT. 54 cents more for diesel (I assume you are comparing with premium gas)! Is that since gas prices have gone up? Is the delta more or less TODAY than in the past? It seems to make a big difference where you live as to whether the TDI makes any sense. Here in the Chicago area the difference was never more than a dime or less that I can recall.

I'm in San Diego and President's weekend was the first time since I bought my TDI last June that I couldn't find diesel for the same price as regular, or for less. It's was still 3.99 a couple days ago when I finally had to fuel up. Hopefully as winter abates the prices will come back down. Gasbuddy is a good way to find local cheap prices.

Here in Northern New Jersey we have 2 stations that where diesel is .04 cents higher than premium, Lukoil and Getty.

Premium is $3.39 and Diesel is $3.35.

My last fill, i had 550mi on the trip comp with 65mi to go on the tank. I now have 4500mls on my 2011 tdi.

Just to make you all feel better, a full tank is now costing be £130, which is about $210. Still worth it though, a great car.
