Can someone help me understand the actual feature differences between the standard and premium? Once you add the convenience package to the standard version for $2000 I just don't understand what you really get for the extra $4000 difference between the two.
I've tried researching on the Audi site, but it's horribly overdesigned and really quite unusuable (IMO).
Thanks,
aH

Thanks for posting this, but this still leaves my scratching my head.
For $4000 ($6000 minus the $2000 cost of the convenience package) you get aluminum roof rails and window trim, xenon headlights, interior light package, Bose stereo upgrade, slightly less crappy stock rims and a color mmi screen.
I see the value in the xenons and the outside aluminim trim, but the Bose stereo is marginal (at least the one in my A4 is), the color screen is only going to make a difference if you get navigation and the rest is cosmetic. I've got to be missing something really good....
BTW, I'm a total audi fanboy and am looking to trade in my A4, so I'm not ripping on the Q7, just confused by the packages.
Thanks.

You'll probably need the bluetooth phone as well which I think means you have to get the full MMI with colour screen. I've got the Nav too, and when it comes to resale this will make a difference to your value.

To me it also seems the base+comfort is the better deal unless you want to have other additional option packages (tech, info, conv).
Here's the diff according to the brochure:
- 18" 7-spoke cast alloy with all-season tires
- Bi-Xenon headlight with auto self-leveling
- Genuine wood inlays
- 14 speaker, 10ch. bose permium
- 6-disc CD changer
- Satellite radio prep
- Brushed alu roof rails and windows trim
- interior light package (diff?)
- MMI advanced OS (?) with color screen
Never quite understood if the color MMI has a different OS than the monochrome MMI.
Does the monochrome MMI have the same trip computer? Does it show fuel consumption?

It sounds silly, but things like that really start bugging me after awhile. Not having Bi-Xenons is another.

One other difference I noticed is aluminium inlays instead of wood.
On the 3.6 base specs there's an option listed for 'Inlays, Olive ash beige' for base but I'm not able to select it in the configurator.
So not sure if this can be really ordered.

Seems you do get a color mmi on the base if you order the Sirius option.
Personally I don't care much for MMI. Rather have dedicated buttons especially for the Radio...
Also I'm guessing you can't get the wood inlays for the base in the US (but you can in Germany) so I don't see a reason why you couldn't replace these afterwards.

Thanks all for the feedback.
I ended up getting the 3.6 Premium and am pretty happy with the final choice:
Phantom Black Pearl
Black Interior
Panorama Sunroof
Convenience Package
4 Zone Climate Control
3rd Row Seats
20" Wheels
