You don't want to know what people do when testing out a car like this. I would have not accepted it in the first place. When I tested a Q7 before buying mine, i told the guy i'm paying ready to pay in case i get a ticket. I drove 110mph and i pushed it to the limit.

I would seek a lawyers advice on this because each state has it's own lemon law (rules) as i know.

Rust on the wheel hubs is ok! It's a normal thing.

I really think you have a chance there against the dealership and AOA. If you go down this road you have to push hard and go for changing the car with a brand new one with less than 25-30 miles on the dash.

Thanks. This is what I intend to do. What's AOA?

Audi of America.

And just curious--where did you buy your Q7, and did you get any discount?

@DenverQ7 Let us know what happens and try to post here before you make a decision. Dealerships always try to get as little loss as possible, so expect anything from them.

The community here will always be here to protect your own interests.

I wish you good luck.

I definitely will and very much appreciate all the advice and comments! It's very helpful.

I don't want to name the dealer as of yet, because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. I checked their ratings before I bought and they were very high. They do seem genuine and I have a pretty good read on these sort of things. They know there is an issue here and when I talked to the GM when my car had the second problem with the A/C, he promised he'd take it back if there were more issues so let's see. After driving the car again tonight, my sons heard the same high pitch whistle on acceleration between 5 and 40. You can even hear it whistle down in pitch when I take my foot off the gas. This must be the propeller shaft they say was replaced and has documented issues. I'll see how it goes Monday and report back.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Still no word back from the GM at the dealer, even after calling him twice today. In absence of that, I wrote the CEO of AOA and sent a copy to the CEO in Audi AG Germany. Within an hour, Brad Hollister, Audi Executive Case Specialist, rang me and told me he was looking into the issue and would personally resolve it, together with the dealer. They admitted to known issues with the drive shaft and said AOA issued dealers a technical note about the problem. They said though that once fixed, the whistle/high pitch should resolve itself, but it hasn't. I am seriously hoping Audi will stand behind the vehicle, take it back and allow me to get a new one without major problems. If they do, they'll have a customer for life. So far their customer service has been top notch!

Be careful, they will try to make you keep the car, by repairing it as many time it is needed. Keep in mind the 3 strikes and you get a lawyer (if they don't give you a break and open the subject of a new car). As Jusforfun was saying, we are watching your case closely. Bing up the new car idea every time. Good luck!

Default Hats off to AOA

Well hats off to AOA. They've earned a customer for life.

They are standing behind the car and 'buying' it back, allowing me to purchase a new one.

They and the dealer say I won't be out of pocket for a new one and AOA has a mechanism to buy it back and make sure no one profits in the transaction. The dealer won't lose and we won't be out of pocket.

As there aren't any 2012 Q7s with same trim, color, etc., we'll build a new one in a 2013 model and have it delivered.

Thanks for all the advice and well done Audi! Way to stand behind your product.
