Default Do I live with this?

Short story: An inaccurate gas gauge (shows we have less gas than we have.)

Long Story:
So our 2008 3.6 was stalling and not restarting, seemed like we were out of gas, but gauge was showing 1/4 tank. Turns out we were right, the gauge was wrong/ failed sensor or something.

Brought it in they told me I shouldn't drive to an empty tank. I called BS and fought them till the fixed it. They had it for 10 days, really struggled with it, replaced a LOT of stuff (even the instrument panel - got upgraded to 2009, pretty sweet) finally they claimed they fixed it and car stopped running out of gas. They were relieved that I was done bugging them, but now....

The gas pump cuts off while the tank is 3/4 full. So it seems like they re-calibrated the gas gauge so we don't run out of gas, but the gauge is still not accurate. If the car was 10 years old I think I could live with it. But I feel like a $58k car should have a gas gauge that is as least as accurate as my 33 year-old corvette. No? Am I being too picky?

Default Gas gauge

Good day to you ! One question: why don't you try another Audi authorized repair center? over the years of owning different car makes, I very often solved my BIG (as they seemed) car problems this way...

No - you're not being picky. The gas guage should work as advertised.

I've seen more replaced for less of a problem in the past.

2nd. It should work properly, no excuses! Please keep us updated.
Try to find out if they also performed all fuel related TSBs for your car.

Default Faulty Fuel Gauge

I have the same problem with my 2008 Q7 4.2. My fuel guage was showing I had 90 miles left and engine power cut and my car stalled. I was next to a gas station and decided to add a few gallons of gas and car started and I was off. Next day I brought the vehicle to Audi Service and they said they fixed the fuel sensor. I'm still having problems though. I know there is 26 gallon tank. Whenever the car says 90 miles left, it stays on 90 miles and doesnt move down. I once filled up my tank and I filled it up with 25 gallons even when the fuel guage said I had 90 miles left to drive. Now whenever the fuel sensor says 90 miles left we always make sure we fill up. I'm going to bring the car in at the 15,000 mile service. Let me know of any updates on the progress of your car, its really frustrating to have a faulty fuel guage.

I am interested in hearing if any fixes. There is nothing picky about wanting a new vehicle to operate on a basic level. These are problems you put with on a 15yr old vehicle and keep a tally on the gas gauge & miles etc.... Lets hope it gets resolved!!

Talk about BS. Our 07's gauge works flawlessly. The computer reads right down to 0 miles. They need to fix it....
