Does it have that clatter, so that anyone can tell its a Diesel from far away?
I remember walking down a street in downtown, and the Previous-gen Jetta TDI was rolling down the block. I heard the people walking in front of me says, "hey, it's a diesel!"

not as nice a growl as the same engine makes in the A6 though. Higher pitch woosh. It won't sound as good as your petrol V8s whatever people say.

... the only clatter I notice is for a few seconds after start up omn a cold morning. After that it make quite a nice humm/growl with turbo whoosh/whine thrown in.
The new 240 hp 3.0 TDI actually sounds better then the old 233 hp version - no noticable difference in performance (7 additional hp and 50 Nm torque).
