Door handle black botton quit working....
#31
My driver's side button seems to have failed too. There is no longer any tactile click compared to other 3 doors that still work, indicating that the previous owner might have pressed it too hard.
Found some part on this,
2007 2008 2009 2010 AUDI Q7 4L - DOOR HANDLE MICRO SWITCH FOR KESSY | eBay
and
SWITCH (8H0-959-985-B) - $54.42 - 8H0959985B
Can clearly see the spring which works with outer button.
Has anyone dismantled handle to replace this defective switch ?
Thanks for all guidance.

I never realized that just simply putting your hands around the door handle unlocks it. All 4 of my doors require a pull first to open. Not going to lose sleep over it though.

Yes, if it's all working as designed then the car should be unlocked before your hand actually touches the handle as it sense your fingers wrapping around the handle.

I find if I pause briefly until I hear the locks click after I reach fo the handle that I avoid that double pull. Same on my S5. Seems to vary depending on from which angle and how quickly you have approached the vehicle. I believe there are sensors located behind the front bumper area. I sometimes hear the car click as I walk past that area with the key in my pocket.

Correct, I believe there is one at each corner and it triangulates the signal in an attempt to prevent the key being locked inside.
The car systems activate as you approach to speed up to reaction time to the unlock request.

Help needed in diagnosis
Guys, would appreciate if anyone can share their experience. Audi Q7 TDI with Advanced Key.
My drivers handle button failed, yet the entire 4 doors and start/stop system worked.
A while later, entire start/stop and promixity door system shut down. VCDS showed "driver door handle failure". IF ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE.
Q1. Does a major failure of handle cause a total shutdown? Only key inserted starting and buttons on FOB works. In past, all handles require a small pull to unlock, the VCDS shows intermittent error, but at least everything still works.
Q2. I've certain its just the drivers handle. If I order a new part, would the system auto enable itself upon clearing DTC codes?
Q3. I'm hoping its not an reprogramming issue, as only one handle failed. Hoping that replacing it will solve entire issue.
Cheers and thanks for any input.
