Default DRL 2008 Q7

Hey guys,

Just bought my first Audi. 2008 Q7 3.6 Premium. I live in Canada and have to get a motor vehicle inspection completed before I can get it licensed. Before I can do that I need to have Daytime Running lights which are not included with my Q7 equipped with halogen headlamps. I tried the MMI but the DRL function is greyed out and not accessible.

Does anyone know if the DRL's can be turned on using a VAG or even if an Audi dealer can do it without having to buy the conversion kit?

Only Audi dealer near me is 250 miles away and when I talked to the tech I did not get a good feeling he knew what I was talking about, and I do not want to waste a day driving there if they cannot do it anyway.

So far LOVE the Q7....Hooked on Audi after two weeks.

Was the Q7 sold in Canada with halogens? If so there must be a way to activate them(it may be a different headlight unit which could be expensive).

My A6 had halogens with no DRLs. I enabled them with VCDS, although it's not really DRLs, but the headlights came on when the car was started.

Setting last two digits of Central Electrics module 09 to 24 should enable DRL selection in the MMI (the 2) and set the country code to Canada (the 4).

When I set the last digit to 4, it switched the foglights on instead of the headlights. This was a UK spec car though, so YMMV as to which lights are switched on.

Hope that helps

Hello

My Q7 2009 using MMI 2G, Is it possible to enable DRL on it by the same coding?

Thank you

If I'm not mistaken, which I often am...on MMI 2G, isn't there a setting to enable the DRL in the MMI menu?...at least that's what my '07 has I think.

Yes. Setting coding as per my post above yours will enable DRL selection in MMI and switch on your headlights to use as DRLs.

A6 and Q7 were using the same modules at that time so you should get the same results.

As long as you make a note of the coding before you change it, if it doesn't work for you it's easy enough to set it back to what it was.

Yes.. Its done with me.
Now i can ON/OFF the DRL from the MMI 2G

However,

The DRL should be dimming low at night when i turn the headlight on.
In my case, the DRL bright 100% all time!

Any Idea how to do it?
This YouTube shows what I mean:

Thank you
