My '07 Q7 4.2 has 43K miles, and I'd like to keep it past the 50K warranty limit - but, high Audi repair costs concern me. My dealer's extended warranty (3rd party) is through Fidelity Warranty Services, who seems to be roasted in online reviews. I noticed an Aston Martin dealer recommending Warranty Direct, who seems to have an ok rep, but is very pricey. Or,since my Q has been bullet proof so far, I could just go "naked". Any ideas/guidance?

I've been using IWS (Intercontinental Warranty Services) out of Florida for my Allroad and my old A6. I've been extremely happy with them. Now I'm looking to get a new one for my Q7. IWS for a 60 months and 80K is about $3,214.00. The second option would be SWBC (Southwest Business Corporation) They want $2997 for 6 yrs or 75K. I haven't decide yet which way I'm going.
I hope this helps.

In our case, conversations with my local Audi dealer - they know the car and have serviced / warranty repaired all issues (of which there has just been one to date) thus there suggest I extend just before car runs out of Warranty - that way I get a huge discount. Sounds good to me and am happy to pay £1.5k max for a warranty extension.
The way I look at the warranty extension is as follows;
a) how reliable has the car been to date, answer is VERY reliable.
b) does the car fit our lifestyle, answer is YES.
c) would a newer version serve us better, answer is NO.
d) are we likely to replace the car soon if it is this good and still reliable next year, answer is NO.
e) is extended warranty from Audi 'cheaper' than replacing the car for newer, answer is YES.
f) would I consider not getting extended warranty to save money, answer is a definite NO.
g) would I go with non-Audi warranty even if the supplier also supplies Audi (in effect go direct), answer is NO.
The last point is critical to us because my local Audi warranty dept told me that IF I take a warranty with them, it may cost more than going direct however each repair will be done without minimal hassle to us and we will always be entitled to a courtesy car - I was sold after that.
We will always go for convenience over 'cheaper' deals especially where the family is affected.

so what did you end up doing? I am trading in my 3.6 Q7 for a 4.2 Q7 with 48K miles. Should I get the CPO or not? It buys me 2 years of warranty on a bullet proof Q7. ummmmmmmmmm

If you'd like a quote on some options, please email me at brucem105@comcast.net.
Fidelity is a very good outfit. The "roasts" they get are actually a very small number, as you have to look at complaints vs. warranties sold. It might sound terrible to see 50 complaints online. But if they sell 50,000 warranties a month, it's not bad at all.
Warranty Direct is INDS, I used to sell their warranties. They are VERY tough on claims, but they are not unprofessional. They pay only what they are obligated to pay, not a nickel more.
Although lately, due to economic times being much tougher, all warranty companies are using their rights in the contract to substitute used or rebuilt or 3rd party parts, sending inspectors out more often, sending the car to a shop of their choosing, etc. That's only happened in the last year or so.
