A couple of springs ago... 3 coats of Zaino total:

Handwashing and touchless car washes are always better. There are products available out there that are also made specifically for 'polishing' black plastics. It does not remove scratches already there but does add gloss and deeper blacks so that the scratches are not so evident. I even use this kind of stuff on the rubber seals and stripping around the glass to stop wear and UV damage.
Just Google 'Car Detailing Forums' and you will find a ton of information on techniques and products. After 6 years of carfully hand washing and detailing my car, people say by M3 still looks brand new. The only caveat is that you have got to have the time and shall I say 'passion' for your car to spend this much time doing this. (ie. 2-3 hours once or twice a month).
