Well, both the '17 and '21 model Q7 have now made it onto CR's "Worst Used Cars" list in their annual automobile ratings issue...not a good sign, but it only indicates they have had poor reliability reported by owners with cars in those particular years, such as the cracked cylinders this member reported having prior.

My impression is that after driving my '10 or '15 to the dealer for a warranty service, and I get a new Q7 as a loaner (I have one currently), it just feels less substantial in practically every way. Sure, the tech is updated and the digital cockpit is a nice add, but driving it reminds me of a lot of prior rental car experiences...nice, but austere interior, gets pushed around by a cross-wind really badly, fairly good ride quality, but rather toy-like in comparison to our Gen 1 Q7s. I love, love, love driving them back to the dealer to pickup our Gen 1 cars...that's the best part of having them as loaners.
