Default FUEL Consumption Help!!!!!!

Hi there.
Does any one know if the board computer that shows the instant fuel consumption or the avarage consumption tells the truth because in a downhill road if you let the car in (N) it says that the car is burning 2.1 L/100km at 60-70km/h at 900 rpm, and at the same condition if you have the car in 2 gear or any other gear it says 0.0 L\100km even if it is working at 2000rpm.
Can any one tell me how is that possible.
as for the avarage consumption it burns always 2-3 l/100km more than the computer says.
Thanks for your time.

TDI direct injection can do this. Overrun needs no fuel engine is kept turning by wheel rotation. Idle in neutral requires fuel to keep it turning. Yes figures are pretty accurate.
It's fun to cruise up behind others (CC on) on the motorway and watch your fuel consumption drop away as you enter slip stream.
