The Tekonsha emulator will not work on the Q7. The Q7's ECU needs a load to work, and the emulator doesn't provide enough load. Ask me how I know.

Should come up in VW and Audi parts catalogs, I still can't find the one website I saw it on, I think I found it under a Tiguan or Touareg first, actually. But regardless, the cable is (or was) made by Valley, 39010.

Found where I looked it up, it was on my old WinXP laptop on which I run the Bentley Pub software...Explains why I couldn't find it on my Win7 ultrabook! It was on a VW dealer's online parts sales site. That number I posted is the current and correct number VAG is using. $30-35 depending on the dealer.

Hey everyone. I just got a Q7, and it seems to have the factory towing package. Can you tell me which connector I have here? It is a 7 pin, but I can't tell if its factory. I still will need the 7 to 4 pin adapter, correct? Also, it seems the bolts/screws that hold the connector in have rusted and broken, so it is just dangling there. are they replaceable?

That is a 7-pin RV plug. Yes, you will still need a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter, if that's what your trailer needs.
I would drill out the rusted screws and replace with new bolts and nuts, perhaps of stainless steel.

It looks to me like the 7 pin adapter they used is not the Audi/VW plug and likely never screwed into the mounting plate. That's probably one of the reasons for all the rust. So it's been dangling from there since they did it. I just got a Q7 and it came pre-wired, but didn't have the adapter plug at the end of the harness, only a blank plate. The dealer was clueless but I bought the following 7 pin plug adapter from Amazon and that's what you'll need to buy:
You'll immediately see where this screws into the mounting holes. So you'll need to remove the rusty screws or and clean up the whole thing with some matte black rustoleum or something first. The harness has two sets of mounting hardware, you'll likely need the nut/bolt set based on your pictures. Best of luck.

If the poster reattaches the plug, it will be just fine. There's no need to pay extra for a "Genuine Audi" plug when the Pollok plug works just fine. In fact Pollok makes the Audi plug.
