I leave my brake controllers plugged in in both Q7's. The TDI has the Hopkins Insight and the 3.6 has the Reese Towpower cheapy. Neither car has had issues, even when they sat unused during March and April.

Ordering the p3 and wiring harness from eBay for a 2013 q7. Curious if should order the harness with or without the relay. Does the relay turn the brake controller off when ignition is off or just better reliability?

WOW. Maybe enjoying my craft beer a bit too much.
Edited to 2013. There are two harnesses the one with the relay and one without.
