I have a favor to ask of you owners of both a Q7 and a measuring tape. I'm a long time audi fan (2000 a4 avant 3.2, 2000 TT) and I am trying to find a replacement delivery mule for my wife's art gallery business.

Here is the litmus test. What is the maximum diagonal dimension of the Q7 tailgate? This is the make-or-break measurement for those who peddle framed artwork. We are shooting for 50 inches or more.

It's amazing how many large, otherwise commodious SUVs have undersized rear hatches. The GL 320 is a prime example. The X5 is much better. How is the Q7?

p.s. I would measure the tailgate myself, but I'm 70 miles from the nearest dealer!

I'm on vacation but my bet is that the Q7 is too small for you.

Since the tailgate takes up, the whole back side of the Q7 b/c it also includes the tail lights also, it is about 66 inches big. that on my monitor (a Dell Ultrasharp 20" 4:3 LCD with a resolution of 1600x1200) the diagonal looks to be one unfolded Audi Q7 switchblade key long (measured from the black plastic housing all the way down the the end of the key) :-D

Sorry, couldn't help it! I'll see if I can take a measurement tomorrow.
