You really ought to own and drive a Q7 before making speculative comments like this. A Q7 is not at all an A8.

Automatic and Dynamic both lower the Q7 at highway speeds, thereby reducing the wind resistance and slightly improving the fuel mileage. It also makes the car a whole lot more stable.

In automatic mode I've never seen the ride height go to 2 bars on the highway like in dynamic. It stays at 3 like comfort. In dynamic mode it will drop from 2 to 1 but you have to hit triple digit speeds.

Mine does above a certain speed, but I've never looked close enough to see what that speed is.

That's one of the reasons it's called "Adaptive".

If I ever bought a Q7, the air suspension is almost a must have.

The Q7 really changes it's feel when you drop that baby in dynamic mode. It's like it's a totally different beast and I feel much more comfortable in it. Just the lower center of gravity and it feels so much better when it's lower to the ground.

That's rather ironic; because I drive my brother in law's Q7 out to work jobs about twice a week. I know the fuel mileage helps and therefore that is why I prefer automatic.

Default Isn't there more to the driving experience than ride height?

Perhaps I'm deluding myself, but I had the impression that automatic mode was tighter in driving dynamics and damping than comfort mode--despite the fact that each maintains 3 bars on the ride height indicator. Some posters seem to feel they are equivalent. Am I missing something?

Speaking of ride height, has anyone ever verified that lowering to dynamic mode improves fuel economy? It stands to reason that it might, but I've never rigorously tried to compare.

I'm sure it helps, but I don't think you'd ever really notice a difference. If you do there could have been other contributing factors to it as well.

Likewise. Dynamic, transmission in 'S' when I drive.
