If I add TPMS valve stems to my wheels, but I never had TPMS...
can the Q7 be VAG'd to start using the tire pressure monitoring sensing system? Or would the car need to have the TPMS option built in from the factory in order for me to use the feature?
(My Q7 didn't come with TPMS from the factory, which is why I am asking.)

What country are you writing from?
What year was the vehicle produced?

Newer Model Years of Q7 do not use Valve Stems system. It uses wheel rotation speed differential (via antilock brake sensors) to sense underflated tire. Changes in running pressures are set through MMI. Very handy for people who use a winter setup.

I'm in the US and inquiring for my '12 Q7.
justforfun- is there a VAG code to activate the TPMS via the MMI option screen? Currently, the Tire Monitoring Service is grayed out on my MMI menu screen.

Your Q7 has TPMS, as outlined in post #3 above. TPMS has been mandatory on all vehicles sold in US since late 2007.
