That was my understanding too. I bought my 2007 S6 as a CPO and the tires needed to be replaced immediately; however, it came with a set of dedicated snow tires as well which had plenty of tread life left. As a result, it was properly certified.

I put Toyo Proxy ST II's on my wife's 2009 Q7 and have been thrilled with the ride, lack of road noise, and tire wear.

In my case: never. The TPMS hasn't detected tire pressure losses as low as 20 psi. Dealer says it is fine. I say it is worthless.

You've got to defer to the Owner's Manual for tire pressure info. The door pillar shows MAX LOAD only: 5 adults + 5 suitcases.
