When I try to play music via Pandora it quickly pauses after hitting play and nothing comes through the car. The Audi cable is 4F0051510E. Wondering if it would help if I got the newer 4F0051510L cable or if this is just a compatibility issue between the 6+ and the Q7.
I have a 2008 Q7 with a similar problem. I also use my iPhone for Pandora & Spotify and use the Apple converter. My 6s worked fine until recently when I updated the OS on the iPhone to the latest version. Suddenly, the iPhone wouldn't interface with the MMI. Coincidence? I replaced the Audi interface cable without results. Audi service ran diagnostics and tell me that I need to replace the MMI display interface, a $1,900 repair job. Although I completely trust my Audi service department, this one seems excessively complex and costly. If you have figured out another way to successfully interface your iPhone 6 with the MMI, I would love to hear about it.

I have and 08 model with success with my apple to mmi cable. I had a iphone 6 with the last IOS update done about 2 months ago so i guess the second last update and it worked perfectly. My wife also had a iphone 6s with an slightly older IOS update with success playing music etc as well and all through the steering wheel contrls etc. however we did just replace both of our phones on sunday to an iphone 7 & a 8 and i have yet to try it out with the pre-installed newer updates.
i will let you know the outcome.
cheers

I have a 2008 Q7 and have an issue using the genuine cable with the white grommet. Fails to connect at all and comes up with an error on the screen saying my device is not active. All very strange, I have done the reboot on the phone and the mmi.

I found i will also get that same response screen when i turn my car on without my iphone connected during the first 5 mins of driving etc and the cable & MMI is trying to locate your phone. I found that with the apple to AMI adapter if I simply Disconnect it at the join then plug it back in and also into my phone the MMI re-searches for your device again and then simply just reconnects and all is working perfectly.
hopefully may be able to assist you. If your using the genuine audi cable to iphone disconnect at the AMI head set then plug it back in agin with your phone connected at the same time?

Hey mate. I checked my new iphone 7 this morning and all was working perfectly the same as my old iphone 6. The iOS version on my iphone 7 is 11.1. The cable setup im using is the factory 30pin AMI cable that came with the car and simply just bought the apple 30pin to lightning adapter which was $59 aus$. Works perfectly. These cable below are the most common setup people with audi’s and MMI 2g software with AMI and all have success. May be wirth switching back to the older arrangement as versus the audi iphone inter grated 6 plus cable bud if you have no further success.

Hey mate the audi ami cable part number is
4F0 051 510L it can also end in k or g but their all the same, ebay or audi will be able to supply a genuine cable mate. I wouldnt risk and aftermarket one and same goes with the apple adapter cable also.
what version software are you using with your MMI unit mate. I think if you press “car” then “systems” or settings then scroll to version info you will get the software number you currently have running. The last/ latest was ending in (5570) which is what i also have.
a simple google search will help you if you need it bud.
hopefully you get it working!!
