I am in desperate need of help..I was the second Q7 delivered here and while that was cool at the time apparently I missed the ipod boat because models produced after nov 2006 can get the cable to attach the ipod in the center console. I am so sick of my fm modulator - I have to get this sorted out somehow. I have a 2007 Q7 premium that was I think a May or June 2006 production, mine was delivered 03 July 2006.
I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with removing that weird phone integration thing in the center console to use the wiring from that for an ipod? I was out there with a screwdriver earlier and it looks like it will come off I just dont want my husband killing me because I am ripping apart my 70k truck. LOL
Thank you for any help you can provide!!

and put it behind the glove box or CD changer.

There have actually been other installs.
Dension website
It is virtually the same unit as AMI AFAIK. Pop the iPod in the glove box and use MMI to control it.

My Q7 has a production date of 04/2006 and I was able to successfully put in the OEM AMI unit without much hassle.
I detailed my experience in this r etrofit thread from last summer.
I bought all the parts from http://genuinevwaudiparts.com who appear to have a "sale" on the AMI Retrofit kit on their main page. After having to drive the allroad which only has a CD and CD Changer in the back, my wife would whole heartedly agree that the AMI is worth it!
