Default Just picked up our 2012 Q7 TDI today!

Just brought home our 2012 Q7 TDI today and I am loving it! Hard to say goodbye to our 2007 Q7 3.6 Premium, but I immediately fell in love. Things I've noticed so far:

- Engine is so smooth. Somehow the TDI engine makes the ride so smooth on both highway and city driving.

- MPG! Drove about 45 highway miles and another 10 or so city miles and the fuel needle hasn't moved. Its still pointed above the FULL. I am sure that on the old Q7 it would've dropped about an 1/8 of a tank already.

- New MMI is sweet. All the new MMI features and having it integrated with Audi Connect (6 months free) means a lot of cool technology! Wireless hotspot, Google maps, Google data, News, Weather, Traffic. After 6 months I may just have to pay for the Audi Connect service seeing how I'm hooked after 1 day!

Congrats, What is that Color called? I am sure some of the economy and smoothness can be attributed to the 8 speed transmission but the 3.0 TDI is a great engine. It will get more powerful over the next few k miles.
Got to love that torque on a long hill. Its funny, you find yourself speeding up on hills until you get used to it.

Enjoy, thanks for posting.

The color is Lava Grey Pearl Effect. Its weird because in different lights, it can look grey, dark blue, or black. But mostly its a really dark grey with a swirly shine (pearl effect).

After driving a little this morning, I do agree that part of the reason why its smoother is because of the 8 speed transmission. Also, there isn't the engine sound of the TFSI engine. It's got more of a constant slight hum rather than a louder roar, if that makes sense. Regardless, I am really loving the TDI!

Only thing thats a little annoying so far - the new maps, whether in 2D or 3D mode, don't show all the street names anymore. No matter how much I zoom in or out, it seems like it only displays large street names. Many side streets that used to be displayed don't show anymore.

Yup... i hate myself for not waiting few months for the 2012 model, sure love to get that new MMI.
we got our 2011 TDI at such a good deal, we just couldn't pass!

good looking car, just a question... did you manually fold your mirrors or does it automatically fold in 2012?
our 2011 does not have auto fold mirror on lock feature, i had to manually turn it to 6 o'clock position... wonder if they add this to 2012..

The mirrors do not automatically fold when the car shuts off (something I would've loved). I still have to manually turn the **** on the door to the 6 o'clock position to fold them in... which is better than having to truly manually fold them in outside

Surprised to see folks wanting mirrors to fold up automatically. That would seem to cause them to wear out prematurely IMHO. I only use this occasionally for parking on busy streets or tight spots.

Different strokes I guess.

Living in Brooklyn and being in Manhattan very often = folded mirrors or scratched/broken mirrors!
