Default LED lights on a trailer/brake light failure alarm (again)

Does anyone know where I can obtain a U-Haul part number 13500, LED Light Trailer Module??? This apparently deals with the problem of the LED trailer lights flickering. However, my local area U-Haul places do not have the part, and do not know of the problem. Their web-site says the part is specifically for Audis, VWs, and Porsches. I am amazed and astonished that my Audi dealer, and the local VW dealer do not know anything about the problem, and are telling me that the trailer should have the lights changed. ( Is this advancing technology???) I was further dismayed when I called the Audi Advocate and explained the problem. They did not know anything about it, and worst of all called the service mgr at my Audi dealer, and he told them to tell me that the trailer is not compatabile with my Q7. What is an advocate doing for me, by repeating what I already know, and from the same source??? Can any one help shed further 'light' on this problem???

Default The U-Haul Store carries them (out of stock at the moment though)...

There have also been a few discussions about this exact topic on the Touareg boards.

Default make your own...add a load resistor in line

I am sure someone here could give you the values required. Or search "LED load resistor"
Get a trailer plug and socket to match your requirements and wire to each other with load resistors in line accross to the negative/ground line. You now have your own adaptor extension lead for LED use.

Seems odd that no one has built an adaptor to do it yet. Or that Audi dont have a setting in the MMI for trailer type.

I may have solved my own problem. After talking to UHaul Corporate, they advised me that Part No 13500 has been replaced by Part No 38008. By viewing the picture on their website (uhaul.com), this part is the actual plug that would be inserted into the car socket. Apparently the load resistors are built into it. I should have it Thursday. I'll post again if it works correctly. Perhaps this info will help some other Audi, VW, or Porsche owner.

I just returned from a successful fishing trip and was able to properly tow my boat trailer, with LED trailer lights, with no problems. The adapter plug from the uhaul web site store worked perfectly. My Audi dealer didn't know anything about the problem. I might not tell them about the solution. Let them figure it out for themselves.

Default Just tried the U Haul part and doesn't work.

None of the trailer lights work and when I tried the original set up w/o the U Haul part the lights still don't work. They had worked before but I was getting the light out warning on the dash. Is it possible that the Audi circuitry has gone bad? I'll be contacting the dealer but I'm afraid they won't know anything about this led issue with trailers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
