Just got a Q7, and like the ride so far. I do feel like there is something wrong with it though. The car is extre,y loud on the highway, and almost feels like therpm are too high. At 70 mph I'm at 3,000 rpms....
Curious if that's just the way the car performs? I kind if felt like I was driving a loud truck

My 2011 333hp TFSI turns 2200 rpm at 80 mph. Road noise is mainly a function of tires and road surface. My Q with OEM Pirelli's is quiet on most roads.

Our 3.6 has its normal exhaust howl, about 2850 at 80MPH since its a 6 speed. The Nexen POS tires the car had were louder than some mud tires I've had on trucks, on most every surface. New 295/45R20 Toyos fixed that problem, but in the 20 and 21 inch sizes of tire for this vehicle you're not going to get luxury car silence and a pillowy ride.
I'm OK with that.....we bought this car for its German heritage, and all that goes with it.

Apart from changing the tyres the only way you are going to get the noise down on the Q7 is to opt for double glazing. This is a haevy vehicle with big wheels afer all.

Sounds like you're driving in S instead of D. Sport mode will stay out of 8th gear (or 6 on the previous tranny) most of the time at highway speeds.

My Q7 2007, shifts like a standard tranny till 3rd, then you don't really notice it, not sure why , it's always done that. I had a 1963 Renault Dauphine that had a push button auto tranny and it sounds just like it. It's loud too. You can hear the engine like they need to put more insulation in. And road noise. tires too. turn the radio up and you can't here a thing. I hope they fixed some of the noise in teh newer models..

No, I'm driving in "D". When I got to "S" the RPM's go even higher. I normally drive a Jeep wrangler, and it sort of coasts on the highway.
Is there an overdrive button on the Audi? It feel like if I hit overdrive on my Jeep
