Audi had better get on the ball quick. The TDI and Hybrid Q7 options cannot come fast enough, and the Q5 better come out of the gate with TDI and Hybrid options for USA launch.
I am seriously looking at Benz now because of their powertrain options. The CPO on my S6 will be running out late next year at which point I planned to trade in for the Q5. But if no hybrid or TDI is available, it is very likely I may be rolling in a Benz.
It's up to you, Audi.<ul><li><a href="http://www.worldcarfans.com/9070907.003/mercedes-s300,-ml-450-and-e300-bluetec-hybrids-at-frankfurt">http://www.worldcarfans.com/9070907.003/mercedes-s300,-ml-450-and-e300-bluetec-hybrids-at-frankfurt</a</li></ul>

I am sure Audi will 'survive' without your business...!
On a much serious note though, I would rather car manufacturers find ways to make their petrol and diesel engines 10x more efficient...but then again, oil barons will all be up in arms if that was the case...
...there is always a reason for 'slow progress'.

and then we would be in the same position as now but the oil would last longer and cause less pollution.
So the price is irrelevent.
The price of oil has always been irrelevent and if anything it is still way too cheap. Almost everybody on the planet can afford to drive a car!
Think about it, we should be in a situation where almost everybody on the planet could not afford a car or a flight then we would have a much bigger cleaner planet.
Meanwhile i am not giving up my car!!

it free of charge, they actually drove out to my parent's house and replaced the alternator in their driveway on my parent's schedule! I'm totally impressed that MB would do that. Can't imagine my local Audi dealer doing something similar..

The dealer my wife had bought her MB from was useless. Loaner cars were always 5 year old Camry's, usually dirty and one time full of kitty litter. It even smelled like a litter box. Never could fix the problem and wanted to charge for pick up and drop off even under warranty.
It always amazes me how dealerships vary across the country.
She has the Q now, so problem solved.

And you have a good relationship with your service advisor . Ask me how I know ! Always get a choice of C class , R class or ML class as a free service loaner .
OTOH, I have to pay for my own service loaner ( some domestic slug from Budget Rentawreck which leaves cars at the local dealer ) when I take my 2 year old Audi in for routine service. That's what happens when parent company ( VW group ) is losing money in US market .

Now this doesn't mean that I'm going to run out and trade my Q7 for a GL (that would be blasphemous! ;-).
