Default My 2010 Q7 3.6 S-Line

Hi all,

I've been posting here since last year before I decided to order a Q7. After a 3 month wait I finally took delivery in January of this year. I've since done a few things to it:

6000K D3S bulb on the headlight
8000K HID fogs (H11)
Huper Optik SECH60 tint on pano roof
Huper Optik 30 on front windows, 50 on rear windows
H&R lowering springs
H&R 18mm spacers all around

Ride comfort post-lowering is indistinguishable from stock; definitely less roll and duck/dip (when acccel/braking).

Thought I might add that I love this car but nonetheless the complaints would be:

1. I wish we could get S-Line sport seats!! The seats on mine are similar to those found on standard trim B8 A4!! Not comfy enough and doesn't match the size of a Q7. Recently sat in an X5 with M-pkg seats, that's what Audi needs to put into Q7s!

2. Fuel consumption is somewhat high. I understand it's a heavy truck, but just getting used to the fact that it consumes more than my S550 (5.5L V8 382hp hauling 4500lbs vs 3.6L V6 280hp hauling 5200lbs). I kind of regret not getting a 3.0TDI (longer wait). I'm averaging around 18L/100KM on my Q7 whereas same driving profile I get anywhere from 16-17L/100KM on the S550.

3. Rear hatch can't be shut from inside or from keyfob!! Getting a Kufatec module to solve this problem.

Now that you lowered the Q7 how does she ride and handle? Does the Q ride harder, what I mean is do you feel every bump in the road and when you hit a pot-hole do you really feel it?

sharks,

Looks great!! Been waiting for pics on those H&R Spacers. Any negativity, where did u get longer bolts?? TireRack sells H&R springs etc but they dont deal with the spacers at all. Few other questions, where did you get the exhaust tips? And, does anyone know if that rear valance will fit an 07 Q7?

As far as I can tell, the ride is identical to stock, not one bit stiffer. I am running Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow now, which is a little bit quieter at low speeds and overall less bumpy than the Dunlop Sportmaxx OEMs; however this is unrelated to the lowering springs. The stock suspension on 21" was a good balance between sporty and comfy. I'm sure that if your Q7 comes equipped with it, the air suspension would give even better ride comfort. I have yet to ride in Q7s with springs and smaller wheels, I wonder if they are less bumpy than 21s.

GRNMACHINE:

So far so good. 18mm won't affect much I suppose. Some people still do not like the idea of spacers but to me 18mm isn't too bad. I would think twice before adding 30mm spacers for example, and yet many Q7s with aftermarket fenders put 30mm or more.

The longer bolts are supplied by H&R. The Q7s require specific bolts with washers (my shop calls them the "Porsche bolts") and the specific length is published in the H&R catalogue (which my shop used as a guide when ordering from H&R).

The exhaust tips came stock like this. I'm glad they improved this over the pre-facelift 3.6 S-Lines which did not have chrome tips.
