8 speed is a factor. power curve is different (power under the curve is greater in the supercharged engine).

If the engine is running like the one in the B8 S4, it has more than 333hp---probably somewhere between 360 and 390.

Mathematically supported. The 3.0 S/C engine weighs less and I believe the 8-speed transmission also is less than the 6-speed. So any time you can shave weight, thats a good thing. Also the 8 speed ratios are taller in the lower gears - higher in the upper gears. You get the best of both worlds, more torque multiplication for acceleration from low speeds, lower engine rpms for improved MPG for highway cruising.

As far as the HP deficiency, the torque curve is what you "feel". In a quarter mile race, the 4.2 may get there faster than the 3.0T, but with more torque available at lower speeds, the 3.0T will probably be out ahead of the 4.2 until higher speeds when the 4.2 catches up.

Also remember, mfrs rate HP numbers at the flywheel. So after figuring in drivetrain losses, the 3.0T may have higher dyno numbers than the 4.2 at the wheels.

It will be interesting to see some performance numbers.

If all goes as planned, I will have a 2011 S-Line Prestige in my garage tomorrow. Told the dealer to hold it for me, and I'll come get it. Orca Black with beige interior.

I really really wanted tan and wood interior but S-Line only comes in black or cinnamon (wife hates saddle leather in cars (whats funny is our family room has saddle leather sofa's @!/%'n women)) . The S-Line was a must for me, the added exterior body detail and wheel & tire package were a must.
