Default Nail in tire... Can I mix tread depths?

Got a nail right on the edge of the passenger side rear tire. Needs to be replaced, and so does the other side, which comes out to the tune of around $660 at the local Audi dealer. I took the car to a couple places, and none of them are willing to patch it.

Measured the tread depths all around, they seem to be wearing evenly at 7/32 at 13k miles. I found a used Conti 4x4Contact on ebay with 8/32 for tread depth for $89. Does the 1/32 really matter? I can get the tire installed for around $25.

I think different tread depths are fine. But you should have the same brand and model of tire on the same axle. That way the belts and sidewalls react basically the same way. Just my opinion.

Sounds like a good way out. I would put it on front kerbside.

Go for it. Good solution. Will not be a problem as long as the tire is the same model.
