Default Need brakes, who do you trust?

Well, our 2011 Q7 TDI might need brakes.

the usual suspect would be the dealer but do you guys recommend independent shops? Is there anything different about the Q7 I should watch out for?

Pepboys? Just Brakes? Midas? Independent shops that do imports?

i probably won't do it at the dealership but i'm not handy at all...

- Is there anything I need to watch out for? special brakes? reset?
- Is there a shop in Dallas area you guys recommend for good price?
- Anyone on this forum willing to do it in DFW area for some $$

Just thought i would check first.

I would pass on the dealer option as they are going to be much more expensive. I would look for an indie shop which specializes in Audi/VW. Dallas should have a couple. I purchased my pads online(EBay actually) and had them done at an indie. My dealer wanted $800+ and I spent only 350 doing it the other way. You will not need rotors if you are around 25k(which I expect you are). The rotors last 2 sets of pads. You also need new sensors as they will likely break when removed. I recommend ceramic pads if you want less of the black dust on your wheels. They are also very quiet.

The Toureg guys absolutely love these brakes. Google them to learn more. Most people order the Stoptech pads. Don't forget to read his article on how to properly bed your new brakes properly.

Default a good Audi Indie

I would find a good Audi/VW Indie shop. You will save money on the brake service and still having someone work on the vehicle that is familiar with Audi.

Here is a website this I advertise on, and use to help my customers when they are away from home with a problem.

my dealer offers a 20% off coupon and i'm debating if I should have them replace all my pads.
the price they quoted was $1020 so 20% off will be a little over $800

indie shops cost around $700 with OEM pads.... can't find any local shops that will do it for less than 700.

if its only $120 difference, would you still go indie?

can't find anyone in dallas willing to do brake pads with third party pads... anyone on this board in Dallas willing to do the job?
