The Q7 I did was a 2009, so one would presume the longcoding is a running production change.

So a Canadian Q7 would have a metric face gauge (euro style). You must just have a slightly older model than the one I did.

I was surprised to find longcoding when I did it after reading all the other posts about changing the softcode to turn off the seat chime. It was just an unexpected bonus.

By the way you need the very latest VAGCOM version to get a list of the codes as well.

The previous version I tried initially did not give any details of what each byte meant, just the longcode string.

The latest version has the tick boxes with what each item is.

Hi Graeme,
Are you in Sydney? Any chance you can do it this for me. I have a 2008 Q7 4.2TDI. Cheers.

Default Anyone do a needle sweep on US spec Q7

Select]
[17 - Instruments]
[Coding - 07]
[Long Coding Helper]
Click on each of the Byte numbers in step 3) and you'll see the selectable options below.
Check the box for "Gauge Test/Needle Sweep active"

Close the Long Coding Helper by clicking the Windows X box on the top right of the screen or clicking the Exit button on the top left of the screen) will send your new Coding value back to the Coding screen.
