Default New US Thule Rack - Shoulda listened...

I just got the new rack installed on the Q7. I have read all the suggestions and overall satisfaction with roofrack.uk, but decided the difference in price was so small I would order it domestic. This is the setup from www.rackattack.com
  • Thule 460R Podium Aero Fixpoint Foot
  • Thule RB47 47 Inch Rapid Load Bars
  • Thule Podium Fit Kit 4002

With the Thule 686BXT Atlantis 1600 Black

The base seems to sit a bit higher than the UK version - does not seem as sleek. The whole kit was about $320 for the rack. I think I will take the advice from the majority of members here next time....

Rackattack was great to work with. They shipped very quick.

Sorry, not clear what you're dissatisfied with? That it wasn't as sleek looking as other setups (I don't notice a diff) or was it more expensive than roofrack.co.uk?

Just asking because I'm considering the same.

Doesn't look bad a little different though. I bet the fit is precise and as good as the UK version..just a tad bit different look.

I like the color match!!!

I think I was expecting a lower profile based on some of the photos I have seen here. Ya know, it is hard to envision these rack components all together on your car from the website. I'm a novice with the car racks, so I didn't catch the differences.
With this model, the pedestal foot mounts seem higher, with the lock component in the foot vs the bar.
The price was a disappointment as well. It seems that some have gotten the UK based rack for about $250 not too long ago. With shipping included, it came to about $299 from roofrack.uk (shipping was about $75).
Oh well - live and learn. I'm just about over it and now it is time to pack it full and go fishin'!

Well, one good thing, if it is just a tad higher then that means pano roof clearance shouldn't be an issue right?

Hi there, no not an issue there is about an inch clearance "top-to-bottom." The feet also within an inch (inch 1/2) away from the glass "side-to-side"
