Hello Everyone,
I live out in Arizona and was thinking about tinting the panoramic sunroof on our '15 Q7 to help block the sunlight and reduce the interior temperature. I was hoping to get some feedback from those that have done this, suggestions on film; what to get or what to stay away from, perhaps recommending installers etc. Thanks in advance.

Didn't this just get discussed here recently? I believe the topic had to do with weak A/C.

I had the three sunroof panels tinted after the sunshade came off track and wouldn't fully extend or retract properly anymore. I don't know the specifics of the tint other than it was 5% VLT. I had the windshield tinted at the same time to 50%. We live in the south eastern US and have the warm weather package. The additional tinting has helped with reducing interior temperatures.
(As an aside, prior to tinting, I removed the required sunroof panels and manually retracted the sunshade as far as it would go, then pulled the fuse so it could no longer be extended. Realigning the panels to mitigate wind noise afterwards was a struggle)

I contacted the dealership yesterday and received a quote of $650 to install film on the pano. The service person advised that they use nano film which I assume they were referring to nano-ceramic film. Anyone install any other type of film with no issues. I Google researched the subject yesterday and read several older articles cautioning against installing film due to the potential for cracking.

FWIW, I paid $200 for the tint shop to do all three panels and the windshield. He said later that he accidentally undercharged me and it should have been $300 ($100 for the windshield and $200 for the sunroofs).
