Default Passenger side mirror issue

The mirror does not dip up or down on manual adjustment via the mirror adjuster **** on the drivers armrest. It allows side to side.

I popped the mirror off several times and when the mirror is not on the motor assembly, the motor physically exhibits up and down.

When I go to snap the mirror back on, it does not go up nor down from the ****.

Any thoughts?

Should I take the motor totally out and clean it, WD-40 it and try again?

Its strange that it works when mirror is not on it, but when I snap mirror back into place it doesn't cooperate.

Both my mirrors had the same issue on my 2007. I had to replace both motors - each went out within a year of each other. About $250-300 repair for each one. Bizarre

Thanks. I can order the motor for $100 and install myself. I just took it out of the housing and put it back in.

That sounds about right. I figured that out after the first one, however, the car was at dealer for something else and had them do it. What was strange was the same thing happened to the second motor six months later. Dealer hadn't heard that before, but didn't see right.

my CPO MY07 arrived with same rh only defective mirror with myriad of other problems including apparent carfax manipulation from Prestige Audi, Miami. Audi of Charlotte replaced no questions asked when they reconditioned vehicle for me .

Mine also had this on the driver side early this year. So far the Passenger side is fine. I would have thought the passenger side would go first since it has the dip on reverse so uses the motor a lot more than the drivers side. Obviously a weak point...

My MY07 Q7's right outside mirror is not working either. I ordered the replacement mirror motor from genuineaudiparts.com for $72.74 including the shipping to FL. Hope to have it repaired by Monday.

I don't really have an issue but I have a question for the outside mirrors. On my previous cars, out side mirrors (left/right) view are the same, however on my Q7 one, the driver side mirror looks much closer than the passenger side mirror (wide-range view). Is that normal?

I equally had to replace both side view mirror motors on the Q7. Along with tires and brakes every 20K - 30K miles.
