Q7 brake lights malfunctioning

Q7 brake lights malfunctioning
2008 Q7
Blown tail light bulb replaced but another stopped working(not blown) swapped bulbs around and worked but a different bulb stopped working.
Replace all 4 bulbs then with bosch bulbs and ended up with one complete side out!
Swapped bulbs around on this side and that fixed one. What could be the problem.
