Default Q7 Extended Warranty

I just bought my wife a 09 Q7 4.2 with 34K miles. The dealer had told us it came with 6 year 100k CPO but just as we were closing the deal he said it actually did not. We ended up purchasing a 5year 48K Platinum extended warranty? I did not want to do it, but was told we could within cancel in 60 days of purchase? I think I got screwed but am looking for advice from experienced Audi owners.

Welcome. It depends on what package the original owner bought. Some of them go with the car some are transferable. Some are with the lease. Quite often it can be a bargaining tool to close the deal but it sounds a bit late for that other than he told you it was part of the package.
I hope thats 48k from now
Q7s get through their excellent brakes fairly quick. Make sure they are new pads and rotors or covered to some extent. You wont be happy if the replace brakes light comes on in 5 or 6k

What tyres, what depth and what region are you in.

Not a lot of 09 4.2s around but very reliable!

Enjoy a great car.

Thanks, we ended up getting out of the warranty, looking into other options. Goodyear tires, northwest living. This is our new skiing machine.

do yourself a favor... dedicated snow tires and summer tires... the goodyear tires are garbage, loud, and wear very quickly.

Looks like you still have 2 years and 16K miles of the full factory warranty any ways.

Yes the Goodyear Eagle II's seem very loud. Let me know if you have recommendations? We will be skiing every weekend during the winter so are excited to use the car in the snow.

Did you purchase extended warranties for any of your Audi's?

Found this thread while doing a search and wanted to bump it to the top hoping for some more answers.

My 2009 CPO's original factory warranty is up at the end of June (4 years already but only have 34,600 miles).

Dealer says it would be wise to purchase an extended now before June hits as it will be much cheaper. Ballpark figure was $2k for the extended.

Anyone have any advice? I've already had some significant maintenance performed luckily under warranty. Don't want any other big surprises....

Thanks. - Brian

I would do the extended warranty. I got my 2009 with a 6 yr extended, for just over $3k. Audi's are just not cheap to maintain, period. Sure you can go cheap on repairs but you get what you pay for. It's why we own Audi's - get the best, and be ready to pay for the best.

Just my 2 cents... Gil
