I own a 2014 Q5 TDI and got a 2014 Q7 3.0 Premium Plus as a loaner today. I've not looked at the Q7 since I was initially looking at the allroad which was to rough / stiff of a ride for my wife and we test drove the Q5 and ended up getting the TDI.
The Q7 is a large SUV! It sure makes the Q5 feel small. The supercharged engine is quick and has tons of power. I drove it up to SF for a meeting and back to Santa Cruz since my car will be ready tomorrow. Driving route 1 from SF to Santa Cruz has become my drive of choice when leaving SF anytime after 2:30pm since it's is a beautiful drive home with the occasional tourist driving a bit to slow to enjoy the scenery.
For those who have the Q7 congrats for owning an amazing vehicle. It is definitely to big for what I need and the gas miles are a bit low for my taste. I think I got 16-18 in SF and got 21 nearly 22 on route 1. My Q5 TDI gets closer to 25 in town and up to about 38 on the freeway.
I'm glad that I am getting to have a nice loaner and know this would be the vehicle I would get if I needed a large SUV. The trunk space is crazy and the bose sound system is nice. I have the B&O in my car and need to mess with the bass and treble a bit since after messing with the bass and treble in the bose it got even nicer.
Does any one know what the Q7 TDI gets regarding mileage?

Feels like the car has less power than when I first got it. Any other 3.0 people feel this way? more
