Default Q7 new tires

Hi, Newbie here.

I have a 2015 Q7 Premier Plus with 20" tires with 29000 miles on it. The OEM Pirelli Scorpion Zeros still have 4/32 of tread but they are so noisy that I am going to have new tires installed.

We live in the North Central US and winter in Florida but still need all season tires. Research on TireRack, has pretty much refined my selection to Michelin Premier LTX at $249, Pirelli Verde All Season Plus at $214, and Firestone Destination LE2 at $173.

I have always had good luck with Michelin but this model is very new. The recent experience with the OEM tires has sort of soured me on Pirelli. My long time tire guy speaks very highly of the Firestone Destination.

Any thoughts/experiences from the group?

Default I just put continentals on mine

Conti extreme contact DWS high perf. tires. I don't have even 10k on them yet but so far they seem to be fine and the Q7 handles a bit better (cornering grip) than with the p zeros I had on it or the yokahamas before. I have only run them dry so far (no rain or snow) so I can't speak to the wet performance

I have a few hundred miles on Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus. They are extremely smooth and quiet. Happy so far.

Another alternative. Ran them on my 2011, running them on my 2014.

castnblast - welcome to the forum.

The fact you got ~30K miles on your OEM tires is pretty amazing. Mine were gone by 15K.

I have used Nitto NT421Q like Force-1 and liked them, lasted 25K. Currently running Toyo Proxes ST II and like them also.

Some have reported thin sidewalls and blowouts with the Conti DWS. The issue may be resolved by now. An internet search will result in many anecdotes:

Scorpion Verde Plus have been much better than the Yokohama Spec-X, Conti 4x4s that I've had prior. Only got 15k on the 4x4s, 17k on the Spec-X, but 10k so far on the Verde Plus, and wearing well. The OEM Scorpion P-Zero Asymetricos are not a very good tire from what I've heard.

When I had my 2013 Q7 I bought the Scorpion Verde PLUS not long after they came out. HUGE improvement over the Pirelli Asimmetrico that came on the car. I would highly recommend them not only for comfort and quietness, but the tread life is far superior. Just make sure you get the PLUS version as there is also a standard Verde.

one report of someone using a DWS all season tire as a track tire on a BMW (Bavarian manure wagon--- I loved my 3.0 cs, it lasted almost 50k miles!) makes me question the reporter not the tire although a search on google is a cheap solution. ..... just sayin....

I have 2015 and also got the Verde Plus. I have 5k miles on the new tires and I am happy with them. I tried the new Michelin LTX tires and returned them after a couple weeks. I think the LTX tires were designed for different SUV's (such as Tahoe/Yukons etc).
