Q7 oil change pricing?
Did I miss a memo or something, I called a few local dealers and they want $200+ for an oil change. I have a new to me q7 TDI and must admit I was a little thrown back when I heard the prices for an oil change, none of them seemed to really even know what was included in the change which makes me even more skeptical of the price but is 200 the going rate? I have a cummins Diesel that takes 12 qt of oil and its $70 for a change before coupons, and my Jetta with Synthetic is only $55-$60... what did I miss when I purchased the Audi.
Any reason not to the oil changes oneself?
Still looking for a dealer in the Seattle tacoma area that isn't out to rob me.

Prior to having an Audi Q7, I had a Mercedes ML350 Bluetec (Diesel), when they told me that it would cost me $230 to change the oil I almost fell off my chair....and I was pissed....so I believe that is the going rate for Diesel cars. Period.

In defense of the dealerships...
They have to pay mechanics and pay to train mechanics, and pay to have hazardous waste handling, and pay to keep the lights on but mostly they have to pay LAWYERS to protect them from unreasonable law suits from people who think that because they changed the oil, that caused the tires to wear out.
Get rid of all the lawyers and the cost of living will go down, guaranteed.

I just changed my own.
9 quarts Castrol LL03 TDI specific synthetic oil. $64.00.
OEM filter. O-Rring and crush washer $14.99
5 gal DEF fluid (AddBlue) $ 29.90
-------------
Total for parts and oil and AddBlue $ 108.89
Removing under body panels takes a bit of extra time.
Time-- training-- facility-- waste disposal-- tools-- insurance-- government regulations--
maybe a bit of profit-----
I think $200. is a pretty good deal! It costs more at my dealer.

As I told my grandson who watched me that day---
"A clean car is happy car! "
And yes, I get kind of dirty :-)
