Q7 One year and 25K later
One year, 25K (8K of which was from 2 cross country road trips), and one windshield later (west Texas rock), I have the following observations.
1. I still love my 4.2 Q7 and I'm glad I got one of the last ones with XM.
2. 1 out of every 10-12 times I think I am opening or closing my window I am really hitting the rear one.
3. Being tall (6'5") I have the seat back as far as it will go and I often catch my pants cuff on the front left seat rail as I exit.
4. Again having the seat all the way back I have discovered that at highway speeds (anything above 60) with the window down the wind hits the B pillar and is directed right into the side of my head and face. Move the seat up 2 inches and it is hardly noticeable but 2 inches is a big difference to me.
5. The rear sunroof window has a mind of its own.
6. If I run with the AC off for more than 30 minutes, when I turn it back on it smells like dirty socks for 30 seconds and then goes away.
7. Wish I culd turn off the front fans with a single button like I can the rear ones.
8. Love my leather seats but in the summer with shorts, I have to put a towel on the bottom or my legs stick to the front section.
I have had only one service issue and that was to replace the passenger side outside door lock button. For some reason they had to replace the whole door handle and it had to be painted before installation. The service folks did not know this until after I left so it took an extra day. Then once I picked my car up and tried the lock it still did not work. I checked the service order and they had correctly indicated the front passenger door however the service tech had replaced the driver's side. I would have thought they would have wondered why they were replacing one that worked.
Overall I have been very pleased with my Q7.
