Here's a few snapshots of the beast...
On arrival in Vail -

Before she became such a dirty bird -
<img src="http://sargentschutt.smugmug.com/photos/127015612-L.jpg">
Steady as she goes -
<img src="http://sargentschutt.smugmug.com/photos/127015482-L.jpg">
Where should the owner's manual be?
No glovebox??? For Real? Or am I missing something??
Where's the battery? Tried to give someone a jump, but no battery? Probably under my luggage in the rear?
It goes well with the 3.6, but I'd definitely opt for a V8 if buying for myself, as well as a power rear lift gate, and the air suspension.
I love the MMI interface though. VERY intuitive. Makes the BMW and MB systems look even more ridiculous...
Thanks for any hints on the unknowns...

answers...
1) Owner's manual should be in the glove box
2) Glove box can be opened by pushing the button on the dash (to the right of the MMI screen)
3) The battery is located under the driver's seat. There are terminals under the hood. (driver side, towards the back of the engine compartment)

Thanks, I'll check it out. I never looked on the dash for the glove box release... (?)
I have to say it's a bit curious to put the pattery under the driver's seat rather than under the passenger seat, and why not the 'trunk' area, at that?
Rather unusual placement, both for the battery and the glovebox release. I have to wonder 'why'...

i thought so too, regarding the battery.
the button is the large one on the right, nearest the glove box.
i think the trunk area in the back has enough room for the inflatable spare, and the sub. i guess they could have stuffed it in the back, but then again, who knows.

Placement of the battery in the Q7 is the same as the Touareg...
In the Touareg, only the V10 Diesel gets 2 batteries --under the hood and in the luggage compartment.
There have been many theories about why it's in the passenger cabin ranging from prolonging battery life to improving weight redistribution to keeping it out of the cars crumple zones.

EU NCAP tests found knee injuries in general
with glove box release handles so Audi move them to improve their results. The Q7 tour on Audi channel covered same question.
Likewise batteries give better test results and less ignition sparks after impact away from engine. There is also mild weight distribution factor.
