Q7 Safe Box installation

Installation of a Ft Knox Safe Box (Model FKPB96) on a 2015 Q7

Did you bolt it down or simply wedge it in there? I was just in that location a few weeks ago, in my case the airtank is there so its not possible, but I'm curious what you would have bolted it too.

I removed the compressor and the foam padding surrounding the compressor. In my Q7 the padding was just shoved in there with no glue. I wiggle it out without breaking it. I will velcro the compressor somewhere else in the trunk.
Once the compressor and foam padding was off, in my q7 there is a 1/2" edge that hangs out (look at the red arrow on the middle picture). I drilled into that edge two 1/4" holes. (I had to use an angled drill with a very short drill, so I don;t have to take any other pieces apart). you may need to used some washers in between the box and the edge if is not straight.
I secured the box with the two bolts (toward the front of the box) There is not way you could drill in the back of the box and be able to attach them. For the bottom back of the box, I used 3M double sided foam 1/8" thick, so it won't rattle. (not necessary but why not...)
