Default Q7 TDI newb questions

Lot’s of good info here. I’m in the finishing process of buying my wife a 2011 Q7 TDI Premium Plus for our family truckster. It has 15k miles on it with the platinum warranty to 70k miles and 45k pre paid service. I’ve been warned the Q7’s go through brakes and tires quickly. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

I generally do all my own maintenance so I’ll plan on doing my own brake jobs. It sounds like the forum consensus is to use the Hawk ceramics and replace all sensors while doing the job?

The Q7 currently has the factory 19’s on it. I’m going to put 20’s on it to get a more common widely available tire package. Do the 2011 Q7 wheels use the TPMS? Any of you seen or have tried these wheels before?http://www.ebay.com/itm/280737108493...S:1123&vxp=mtr

Any recommendations on tire brands that will last a while?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the input.

I understand my wheel choice is not OEM. My wife is coming from an Escalade with the Caddy 22’s so aside from the 20’s being more available they will look a little more flashy for her.

My main question is if anyone here has had experience with this brand of wheel or retailer? We live in Scottsdale AZ and Orange county CA so I can stop by as see the wheels when in town.

Is there a specific reason why the Q7 owners are running a soft compound tire that wears quickly? Correct me if I’m wrong but our Q7 won’t see over 100mph and it will primarily used to get my wife and kids around town so my wife can buy and return things. LOL! The Bridgestone desert duelers on our escalade have lasted 50k+ on our escalade.

Make sure you keep a supply of the Adblue fluid on hand.

The Q7 is a big, heavy vehicle. Things do wear out more quickly than you may expect.

There are certainly a couple other choices including the Akebono, Centric, etc.

Read some of the reviews and ratings over at Tire Rack. You'll be able to ascertain which tires last longer.

The newest vehicles do NOT use in-wheel TPMS sensors. You can check your own by this rule:

rubber valve stems = sensor-less system
metal valve stems = traditional, sensor-based system.

Welcome aboard, AZC!

coupegt87 Thanks for the lead on the Yoko parada Spec x. Great reviews and the price is right.

So what are my stock 19’s with Conti tires 15k miles worth?

I picked her up today. It’s a 2011 TDI with 16k miles. Has Navi & sun roof option. I think it’s the premium plus pkg but not sure. Only bummer I see is that it doesn’t have the LED head lights and tow hitch. The paperwork says it’s pre wired for tow hitch though. It also has the maintenance pkg to 45k miles and 70k platinum warranty. I paid 49k. How did I do?

I bought a set of 20’s today as well to replace the stock 19’s. I’m looking at the Yoko Parada’s. What is the tallest tire you can run on a 20 inch rim? The Q7 does not have the air suspension.

Anyone interested in the stock 19’s with conti’s?

Nice 19" OEM 5 arm 3 bar rims. Stick em in the classifieds. Would even make a great winter option for someone.
Is there lots of tread on the Continental tires?
Hope I got all the keywords in there
