Default Q7 Timing Chain repair anyone

I have a TDI on order, and came across a couple of articles discussing the cost of timing chain repairs. Anyone out there ever have this done and see the actual cost? I typically drive my cars 100,000 plus, and was looking at the TDI for that reason. Now if the timing chain does run into the 4,000 plus cost that some have mentioned, then the supercharged might look better. I can still make changes to my order, so now is my time.

No reports so far on AW. You do know that the 2012 3.0 TDI is on the new engine right? I wonder who has 100,000 plus up? Any chance of a link to do a bit of sleuthing.

The 2012 TDI is new from the 2011? I was not aware of this one. I knew of a euro version, but I did not know we were getting that engine. Does this one have the start/stop feature?

Thanks

Right, so this is a guy who doesnt want to buy a Q7 because the parts price list that he doesnt need for a car he doesnt own (which he got wrong anyway) is too espensive for replacement of something that is expected to last longer than the life of the engine. People are helping the thread by confusing it with the serpentine belt and ancilliaries. The only failure I can find is a vague reference to VW golf with a four cylinder engine absolutely nothing to do with Q7.
Even more ridiculous is the discussion about the DSG transmission in the same thread also abosutely nothing to do with Q7.

In short no need to worry, its not a problem on either 3.0 TDI engine and that link is ignorant scaremongering rubbish! This is part of the reason I run the spreadsheet.
If there were any reports I would file them under MECH F (mechanical fails)
