Part number for sensor is 7M0 919 376. I found one on ebay for under $10, there were some cheaper but many places were out of stock. The dealer wanted $40. Just remove a few torx screws that secure the liner behind the passenger side front wheel. Pull liner back and the washer bottle is right there. The sensor fits into a rubber grommet. unplug sensor connector and just wiggle/pull old sensor out. Have a bucket handy because the tank will drain once you get that sensor out.

There was NO sensor. I took the entire bottle out.
There is only a pump attached to the bottle. Weird huh...

Have you been using Rain-X fluid?

unfortunately so... typically i use the bmw washer fluid or prestone but i was on a small road trip and picked up two gallons of it... then this happened... apparently rain-x changed their formula and other have experienced the same issue from what i am finding out with my minimal e-research.

have you or others had the same experience or this just coincidence?

It's been all too common over on the MB ML forums.

Solid work, guys!

Some good detergent fixes this if your issue is Rain X... i didn't even have to buy the new sensor.....

Now... anyone know how to get to the same part on my wife's 08 A6 (3.2?)

what kind of detergent? where is the sensor located?
i am under warranty so i am not too concerned but down the road if the issue presents itself again i would like to address it myself.
