Just getting acquainted with the wonders of our new ride, which we leased after three fine years with an '04 Touareg. Only one question so far: is it possible to see street info (highways, streets, etc.) in the instrument cluster display when no route is active on the NAV? This was possible in the Touareg, and of course the Q7 NAV is far superior, but we haven't be able to find anything about this in the manual and haven't discovered an adjustment on the MMI that would enable it either.

My lease on an 04 Porsche Cayenne S will be expiring in a few months and my current plan is to replace it with an 08 Q7 4.2.
Are you saying that the satnav will not display the map to show current position unless a route has been activated? Every satnav I've owned will let you display the map without route guidance active. Perhaps I am misunderstanding you?
A related question - the LCD screen on my Porsche satnav is high resolution so when zoomed all the way in, the satnav will display the street names of every street on the display. Conversely, the LCD in my wife's Volvo satnav is much lower resolution and only displays an occassional street name. Does the Audi satnav display all street names when zoomed in accordingly?
