Default Question to Europe owners: Q7 during the winter.

Hello Everyone,
I did not experience Q7 in the snow yet (should be a lot of snow tomorrow) and already have some concerns regarding how Q7 will behave. My Q7 has
20" GoodYear tires (they have ugly review on TireRack regarding noise, wet and snow performance). So, I am interested to what England, Germany and other north countries owners do during the winter. Do all exchange for winter tires (it looks like there is no 20" winter tires that fit, so do you also have other rims?). I know about advises for winter tires, but my prior experience with Lexus GX470 (I know it had 17" mud tires as a standard) and with BMW X5 (18" sport) did not force me to buy winter tires - the general experience wasnot bad at all.

In Scandinavia people use 18" winter tyres with spikes or without. Smaller tires gives better performance on wet snow. Especially width of tire is important. Narrow tire gives best performance.

Everybody have two set of rims. It's illegal to use summer tires during winter. Also winter tires with spikes are forbidden during summer. You can use spike less winter tires during summer but it's not recommended due to poor performance.

My opinion is that good winter tires are cheap life insurance.

Alos here in Germany, it is illegal now to use regular tires when it comes to snow and ice. Will get you a fine and probably even trouble with your insurance. Almost everybody has two sets here too. I personally hve those 275/20 in summer and the 235/18 in Winter.
