I recently had to replace the driver's glass in my '08 Q7 and when I picked it up from the glass guy, I tried to push the side assist button and the light does not glow. I get an error on the dash that reads side assist system fault.
Has anyone else received this issue?
I know the wire is connected, or else I wouldn't receive the error on the dash.
Can this be reset with VagCom?

I have seen side assist system faults appear in very heavy rain - I think it disables itself if there is too many strange readings from the sensors caused by false readings from water droplets. As soon as I was out of the downpour, it stayed on again normally. It may be one of your sensors is faulty or cables have been damaged in the drivers' door when the glass was fitted. There are sensors in the mirror housing I believe.
