Default So what's next for the Q7?

When I'm ready to get another car for the family the Q7 S line is on the top of the list. We've got small kids with sippy cups, crackers and sticky fingers so I'm gonna let them jack up the Tahoe till they get a bit older. Not that they're that bad at all but I figure why spend the cash right now.

I've heard about the diesel that probably will not be coming to the US but what about an S version? Have you heard of anything else coming down the pike? Also, has your ownership experience with this new model been all you had hoped for?

I've visited Audiworld every now and then and I used to have a B5 S4 myself. Imo Audi is undervalued in both image and resale by the relentless marketing of their competitors. It's actually my favorite brand of car....

Default My wife and I had the exact same feelings...

we have owned 8 Audi's over the years and the Q7 was at the top of our list..due to the fact we had an infant and a 3 year old. Our '02 A4 Avant was just not cutting the cake for size. We drove both 4.2 and 3.6 models and settled for a 3.6 Premium w/ a list of options. It is my wifes car and she does mostly city driving and the 3.6 is a wonderful engine. We too were concerned about getting the truck "trashed" by the kids, but the back seat areas are very child friendly with few things to mess with, scratch etc. So far (2 months and 2500 miles) the Q7 has been an unbelievable machine and has exceeded our expectations. I would not hesitate for a second on buying one. It is also nice to not see one at every stop light or shopping center...good luck..

Default Our 3-year-old twins make a mess but the Q7 cleans up nicely.

Our old MDX had perforated leather seats and there was always crud in the tiny holes in the leather seats. We let our kids eat snacks & drink in the Q7 and it cleans easily with soap & water & a shop vac. Like I noted below, just be careful not to get out with the keys in the ignition and have your child push the lock button on a rear door.

Default I've never actually been a diesel fan.

but from what I've heard the new diesels are much quieter, have boatloads of power, and don't stink so much like delivery trucks.

if you treat your leather with lexol cleaners/ conditioners and top it off with some stain/ water repelling cream its all good.

Default Everyone who gets in says - cant believe its diesel...no exeptions.

I must post a pic or vid of exhaust fumes but it will be a bit boring.
What we really need is a Yank to review it!

As you and I know, there is NO smell and NO smoke and it sounds like a very quiet six cylinder petrol engine. As a bonus it pulls like a train and is reasonably economical.

Guys,

I drive the 3.0 TDI diesel over here in Germany - like almost everyone over here! The gas fuel Qs are almost impossible to sell here. Drove it for 14k miles now since March 06.

Ok, it is for the economics, because diesel is so much cheaper here (app 70 US Cents difference a gallon) and you get a lot more mpg form the diesel too.

But also, we prefer it, as the diesel has that much power. It tows 3.5 tons easily. It accellerates like crazy with its 500Nm. And it runs pretty damn fast in the end too! And with the new diesel particular filter (DPF), there is no smoke at all, even if you hit the throttle for a kick down.

Ok, the sound. You'll hear, it is not a V8, but a V6 diesel. But it is not like a truck or such! Driving on freeways, you'll hear the wind and tires noise more than the engine.

IMO, the diesel is not really behind the others. Sometimes even the opposite is true. So I got one and enjoy...!
