This is nothing compaired to what I would have to pay for the 3.0T 333Bhp in Norway. Beafore adding any extra equipment at all, the starting price is $209000. The 3.0 TDI 240Bhp starts at $150000. Yes i know it is cracy This is due to high VAT on cars with high Bhp, weight and CO2 emision.

As you might understand, you guys in the states are very lucky

As you can see the TDI around here is £5k less than the 333hp 3.0 TFSi engine that ive just bought. Prices are going through the roof in the UK and its going to go even higher because of VAT increase. The total cost was £66,740. The dealer was good though, gave me the car for £61,500.

Yes, reflects that the TDI is a much more mainstream option in the UK and EU and actively promoted rather than being a significant extra cost as here in the US. Doing the exchange rate calc shows that the TDI S-line is actually not that much different from the US price (assuming it is equivalent spec to the prestige) when you consider that includes the 20% VAT. US pricing does not include sales tax

It is important for people to comment on things they know. Hard to tell a TDI owner all about their vehicle from someone who does not own one. ":

I think the 3.0T is a great engine for those who want and need that option. I have nothing bad to say about it.
Nothing to do with flaming or "my engine is better than yours, etc. etc." (If I was into that I could go to superwally speedworld ) The OP asked for views from those who had driven both and that is what he got. Views/Opinions - exactly what is being expressed - nothing being claimed as "factual". I don't see anything in the responses that suggest anyone is trying "to tell a TDI owner all about their vehicle from someone who does not own one". if you read my comments you will see taht i really wanted to like the TDI (I have owned a variety of diesels since 1988) but in this case it just didn't work for me. YMMV
