Default Taking a long time to warm up

It's truly starting to feel like winter these days. Temps are hovering right around freezing. I've started to notice (or never noticed before) that it takes about 20 minutes for the engine temp to reach the normal range ( 50% needle deflection). Is this normal? It seems to me excessively long- almost like that the thermostat isn't closing. It's a 2007 4.2.

My Q7 takes a long time to warm up, but not 20 minutes. It reaches the 1/2 way point in about 10 minutes--my A5 does it in less than 5.

It might be time to make a phone call or two and see what my favorite dealer says.
